Latex Paint: Why it is good for your home!

Among the various household paints, latex paint is considered as a common one. The old paint has to be scrapped before application of the new one. It is quite easy to remove the latex paint and hence it is commonly used.

How do you remove the latex paint? When the latex paint is wet, you can easily remove it with the use of water and detergent. In many cases, detergent is not required and the paint can be removed only with the use of water. While removing the paint, you should bear in mind to use only white clothes. Usage of color materials will bleed colour on the walls which will then become very difficult for you to remove.

On the other hand, if you want to remove the latex paint that is not wet, you need to use alcohol and rub the wall. The wall with the latex paint has to be made wet first with the use of isopropyl alcohol. Then you need to cover this part of the wall with the thick wrapper thus to prevent it from evaporating. You need to leave the wall for a short while and then it will be easy to remove the paint just with the help of the water. In some cases, the latex paint can be removed very easily by just scrapping the wall simply. This mainly depends on the surface of the wall.

When you decide to paint the walls with latex on the existing oil paint, you have to slightly sand the wall before starting the decoration of the wall with the latex paint. The oil based paint is not flexible and hence scrapping of the oil paint from the wall has to be done very carefully.

How will you determine whether the paint coated on the wall is latex, oil or something else? If it is a latex paint, it shows the strokes of the brush and also the roller stipples. It can generally be injured with the finger nail very easily. On the other hand, if it is an oil paint, it gets very harder after it dries. It has a delicate surface and is generally glossy and smooth. It does not reflect brush or roller marks and cannot be damaged easily with the fingernail.
